The adding of a full entry follows three steps:

  2. Replace the title term
  3. Clean up the article

Copy or import the original article

There are 2 different ways to add a Wikipedia article to Artypedia: through export/import and manually.

Adding an article manually

This is appropriate for simple articles without special content boxes.

  • Go to the Wikipedia article you want to add to Artypedia
  • Click on either "edit" or if the article is protected on "view source"
  • Copy the source code
  • Go to the page you want to add in Artypedia by entering something like

http://artypedia.org/wiki/Bread
where Bread would be the title of the the article.

  • Click on the edit link
  • Paste the source into the input field

Your article is now uploaded. Make sure to alter it so it becomes a true Artypedia article.

Adding an article through export/import

This is appropriate fore mor complex articles that involve templates to display tabellar data.

  • Go to the wikipedia export page
  • Type the Title of your article into the Large Input field. You can export several articles at once. Use one line for each article. Example:
    Bread
    English language
    Freedom (philosophy)
  • click on the "include templates" checkbox
  • Export the page(s) to your local drive. The export will be saved as an XML file.
  • Go to the [Special:Import Artypedia import page]
  • Upload the XML file

Your article is now uploaded. Make sure to alter it so it becomes a true Artypedia article.

Replace the title term

The easiest way to replacing the title term with the term "Art" is by using the Artypedia Article Transformation tool. Define your Term, Paste in the sourcecode of the original article and set your options. That will take care of the vast majority of things like replacing the main term, removin bibliografical references, Links, unused footer elements and developer comments.

Rules

  • All articles in Artypedia must have a corresponding article on Wikipedia. The lack thereof will result in the deletion of the Artipedia article.
  • The Subject of the original article has to be replaced by the Term "Art". Feel free to change the context's terms to the art context where you feel it is appropriate: For instance editing the article originally titled "Bread" the term baker may become "artist" or "art dealer". Be creative!
  • Stick to the original article - don't add paragraphs on your own unless you add them to the original article too, of course! You may however shorten articles by leaving out parts you feel are irrelevant (lists etc.)
  • You are encouraged to experiment with controversial articles. However articles that are altered in a way to convey hatred and discrimination will not be tolerated.
